BRC today has spoken with Sarah Jones MP, Shadow Minister for Policing and Fire Services to discuss the ongoing issue of retail violence and abuse facing many retail workers.

BRC briefed the Shadow Minister on the extent of the problem facing shop workers, in light of Covid-19 and about the incidents of abuse and assault occurring in response to enforcing social distancing measures.

It was also an opportunity to ask what the Shadow Ministerial team could do to pressure the Government to ensure that protections are in place for retail workers ahead of the 15 June when non-essential retailers are allowed to open.

Sarah Jones will be consulting with her colleagues including the Shadow Home Secretary and Leader of the Opposition to assess what they can do to ensure this issue is addressed.
