Briefing: new proactive duty on employers to take reasonable steps to prevent sexual
From 26 October 2024, a new proactive duty on employers to take reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment will come into force via The Worker Protection (Amendment of Equality Act 2010) Act 2023 (the Act).
Employment law experts, the RPC LLP, have put a briefing for retailers covering what does that mean and how to address the changes.
Login to your BRC account to download the full briefing.
On another note, some members were keen to understand what other retailers have done in terms of:
- Commitments in response to the changes
- Customer facing collateral and/or initiatives
Members are invited to share their feedback by 20 November. We’ll anonymise the feedback before sharing it with the HR Community.
Updates: On 26 October, the Equality and Human Rights Commission published an 8-Step Guide for Employers and an updated technical guidance on sexual harassment and harassment at work.
