The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Bill, also known as Martyn’s Law, was included in The King’s Speech as part of the programme of legislation the Government intends to pursue in this Parliamentary session. The Bill was introduced to Parliament on 12 September 2024 and is currently undergoing Parliamentary scrutiny.

A key change since the previous consultation is that the minimum capacity for Standard Duty premises is now 200+ rather than 100+, bringing more premises out of scope. The capacity for Enhanced Duty premises remains 800+.

As part of a programme of engagement, BRC members met with Home Office officials to discuss the Bill and the changes from previous proposals.
