The Government ​today confirmed that the moratorium on Statutory Demands and Winding Up Petitions, contained in the Corporate Insolvency and Governance Act, will be extended from 30 September to 31 December.

This brings these measures in line with two other recently extended protections for commercial tenants - lease forfeiture and Commercial Rent Arrears Recovery - and is a victory for BRC lobbying on the issue. 

The announcement leaves County Court Judgements as the only tool of aggressive landlord debt enforcement not currently banned, an issue that the BRC is taking up with Government.
