The new Customs Declaration Service (CDS) supports import and export declarations when moving goods into and out of the UK (for goods moving into Northern Ireland, businesses can use the Trader Support Service).
The current system CHIEF is being replaced by a new one called the CDS. From 30 September 2022 all imports will need to be declared on CDS and all exports from 31 March 2023.
The government has produced a detailed set of FAQs to support traders through the migration to CDS. Members are encouraged to share the FAQs with their suppliers. The FAQs can be downloaded at the bottom of the page.
