This week a media campaign is being launched to promote the Recycle Your Electricals campaign by the Material Change Fund (formerly the WEEE Fund). The “Little Spring Clean” launch content was developed in response to the nation’s surge in clearing out during coronavirus lockdown. The campaign will encourage householders to put old unwanted electricals into a bag, ready to pass on or recycle when lockdown lifts.

The Recycle Your Electricals "Little Spring Clean’" was officially launched today, 27th May, by the ambassador for the campaign, Konnie Huq (ex-BBC Blue Peter presenter) who will be teaming up with Nicola Lewis (Instagram sensation This Girl Can Organise). As part of the launch the duo were filmed decluttering a client’s home where Nicola shares some top tips on how to sort out old electricals to reuse, recycle or donate.

You can view the videos here and read the press release here. This also includes new research around the types of electricals that householders are hoarding in their homes, and the reasons why they are holding onto them.

The campaign launch will be posted across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram with the hashtag #LittleSpringClean, and people and businesses are encouraged to follow and share it.
