Climate change is the greatest threat we face, one that none of us can afford to ignore. The BRC Climate Action Roadmap is a clear and decisive statement that the retail industry is ready to take on this challenge – to be a part of the solution.

Helen Dickinson OBE, Chief Executive, British Retail Consortium

In November 2020, the BRC launched its ground-breaking Climate Action Roadmap. The initiative, which has influenced trade associations globally, is an industry-first, seeking to bring the entire UK retail industry to net zero by 2040.

The Roadmap is structured around five pathways and is the basis for the BRC’s ongoing activity with members on decarbonisation and net zero. The entire Roadmap – including information on the retail’s emission profile, targets and strategy – can be found here while the very latest news, guidance and events relating to the Climate Action Roadmap can be accessed via our Campaign Hub.

Through the BRC Climate Action Roadmap, retailers are setting a world-leading industry ambition to reach net zero emissions. It’s a fundamental goal, requiring bold leadership from government and from commerce – I highly commend each retailer who supports this initiative.
