BRC’s Climate Action Week starts on 30 October and there’s a full programme of activities to help with your carbon reduction ambitions.

UK retail set a challenging goal of Net Zero by 2040 and the BRC’s Climate Action Roadmap is helping retailers to meet milestones around net zero properties; transport and logistics; engaging suppliers and setting science-based targets.

Assisted by Roadmap partners including IBM Consulting, Mitsubishi Electric; Mondra; Alix Partners and Amber, retailers are working towards reduction in their own operations and also those emissions that sit within the upstream and downstream supply chain.

Climate Action Week activities include webinars which are open to members and non-members covering issues including getting started in net zero; fashion sustainability; carbon foot-printing and generative AI in sustainability.

Activities for the week conclude with the Climate Action Showcase (invitation only) which celebrates innovative projects by retailers in tackling emissions, reducing waste and changing consumer behaviour. The Showcase will see awards presented to the best-in-class after a rigorous judging process with assessors from WWF, WRAP, UN Global Compact, edie.net, Cambridge Institute of Sustainability Leadership, UK Government, Carbon Trust and sponsors Mitsubishi Electric and IBM. Showcase entrants help to share best practice across the sector.

During the week we will also be launching a report with IBM Consulting to help retailers tackle supply chain deforestation issues.
