Call for Evidence: HR Benchmark Q1 2024

Each year, the BRC seeks vital evidence from its members about pay, rewards and benefits across the industry. The information that you provide in response to this survey enables us to play a vital role in presenting credible and robust evidence to both decide and support our recommendation to the Low Pay Commission, taking into account the economic context and the health of the retail sector.

Following the successful launch of the HR Benchmark Report, we are proceeding with issuing a quarterly survey to collect a consistent set of HR metrics (pay, turnover and recruitment), providing retail members with faster labour market indicators than any other source.

This edition of the survey includes special questions on your responses to the National Living Wage uplift in April as well as areas of recruitment need and hence is slightly longer than in usual survey rounds.

The evidence you provide is essential to ensure that retail industry priorities are understood and acted upon.

We have incorporated your feedback to simplify and improve the structure so that the data provides a clearer and richer view across pay, hours, contracts, and recruitment. This survey becomes the BRC’s fifth “HR Benchmark” which is a Benchmark series run each quarter.

Members of all types and sizes are urged to complete the survey. As an added incentive, companies completing the survey will receive an exclusive industry workforce analysis in the summer.

The closing date for responses is Friday 3 May at 5 pm.

If you have any queries relating to the data and to submit your response, please contact Harvir.Dhillon@brc.org.uk
